Overview

The External Impact Ascent includes one, live group training session (60 to 90-minutes) followed by two, one-on-one coaching sessions (60-minutes each, spaced approximately 30 days apart) with each participant to ensure successful implementation. The Ascent includes a mix of formal presentation, group discussion, one-on-one coaching sessions, and homework for each participant to complete.

AT THE SUMMIT

At the summit, each participant will be able to:

  • Identify their interests and what they have to offer a community or professional organization
  • Pinpoint several organizations that will boost their client development and community involvement efforts
  • Develop and execute a practical plan of action to pursue involvement and leadership roles in selected organizations

External Impact: Maximizing Your Community & Professional Engagement

  • Prior to the session, Mountaintop will distribute an electronic survey to gather insights on the participants’ past and current civic and professional activities
  • External promotion of the Firm
  • Identifying client development and community service activities that play to your strengths
  • Strategic targeting of professional and civic leadership roles
  • In-Session Exercise: External Impact Interest Worksheet (using Mountaintop’s proprietary template)
  • Homework for Participants: Organizational research

COACHING SESSION ONE
External Impact Coaching Session One

  • Discuss each participant’s individual survey responses (interests, goals, etc.)
  • Brainstorm about potential organizations and opportunities
  • Discuss how to customize each participant’s LinkedIn profile to convey their experience and interests
  • Homework for Participants: Streamline a list or organizations and opportunities (based on coaching discussion)

COACHING SESSION TWO
External Impact Coaching Session Two

  • Finalize each participant’s target list of organizations
  • Discuss participant’s approach and Action Plan for maximizing the opportunities within specific organizations
  • Homework for Participants: Attend meetings and events to ultimately select an organization to which to make a commitment
