AmLaw 100 Law Firm
Working with executive management and practice group leaders, completed a series of business development strategy projects for a leading, global, 750-attorney law firm. Projects included advising management committee members on strategies and action plans to enter new markets and deepen penetration of existing markets. Provided senior level implementation while the client recruited key members of its business development leadership team. Early successes led to a 16-month extension of the engagement.

Leading Global Law Firm
Created and conducted a proprietary Business Development Boot Camp Training Program for mid- and senior-level associates at a leading global law firm. Program developed in close consultation with law firm partners, professional development staff, and practice group leadership. Program employs interactive teaching methods and action-oriented curriculum to demystify the process of building client relationships and leveraging those relationships to bring in business. Mountaintop Consulting’s Boot Camp was incorporated as a mandatory training for the firm’s mid-level associates.
Strategic Plan Development & Board Retreat Facilitation

Managed all aspects of the development of a 5-year Strategic Plan for a leading professional organization for women lawyers. Project included gathering stakeholder feedback, facilitating a strategic planning workshop for the organization’s board of directors, and preparing the Strategic Plan document. Gathered feedback by conducting one-on-one interviews with key stakeholders and distributing a proprietary, electronic survey to over 140 members. Findings were presented at the board retreat, which we led. Created a summary document detailing the 5-year Strategic Plan and the Action Plan for each strategic objective.

Fortune 500 Consumer Goods Company
Led cross-functional team’s in-depth assessment of a leading consumer brand’s positioning in a highly-competitive personal care category. Determined financial and operational impact of key customer’s defection. Developed a plan to secure the business in the near term and rationalize the operational infrastructure. Devised a long term plan to reposition the brand and capture $100MM revenue opportunity. Within 9 months of project completion, brand regained distribution at key customer and achieved highest quarterly sales growth in the last five years.
Mid-Sized Law Firm
Engaged by a national, 120-attorney law firm to perform a comprehensive capabilities assessment of its attorneys across all locations and practice areas. Designed capabilities questionnaire for all practice areas and managed distribution and collection of an electronic survey. Created master database for information storage and analysis. Presented findings to firm leaders in a comprehensive report, including an assessment of strengths and weaknesses and a detailed analysis of each practice area.
New Channel Strategy
Fortune 500 Consumer Goods Company
Sized the market opportunity and devised a go-to-market strategy for entering two new distribution channels. Completed a detailed competitive analysis. Worked with cross-functional team to evaluate internal implementation capabilities and led sourcing effort to secure external contractors for execution support.
Law Firm Strategic Plan
Leading Boutique Law Firm
Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, led strategic planning initiative to build a national litigation practice for a high-growth law firm focused on the energy industry. Completed detailed competitive analysis and benchmarking review for each of the firm’s regional markets. Devised a capabilities assessment survey to evaluate the related practice experience of over 100 of the firm’s attorneys. Evaluated survey results and provided recommendations regarding practice group staffing, areas of focus, and execution strategy.
As part of the restructuring effort for a troubled city agency, drafted program guides, policies and procedures to enable efficient implementation of critical programs and effective management of several hundred staff and volunteers. Worked extensively with agency’s management team and external stakeholders to support professional culture change within the organization and to enhance communication with customers and key stakeholders.
